The elastic properties of Microset replicas allow them to be extracted without damage from the extreme detail on fracture surfaces. The examination of replicas may be undertaken by directly scanning electron microscopy at column voltages of 2 kV or, for high magnification work and for the EDXA identification of attached debris, at 20 kV after mounting and gold-coating.
